Rooftop Photovoltaic Support Systems
Rooftop photovoltaic supports are installed in various environments, including sloped roofs and flat roofs. The installation must adapt to the roof environment without compromising the existing structure or waterproofing system. Roofing materials include glazed tiles, color steel tiles, asphalt shingles, concrete surfaces, etc. Different support solutions are adopted based on the roofing material.
Roofs are categorized into sloped and flat surfaces based on their inclination angle. Therefore, rooftop photovoltaic systems offer multiple options for tilt angles. For sloped roofs, panels are typically laid flat to follow the roof’s slope, though they can also be installed at a certain angle to the roof surface. However, the latter approach is relatively complex and less commonly implemented. For flat roofs, panels can be laid flat or tilted at a specific angle.
Different roofing materials require different support systems.
Glazed Tile Roof Support
Glazed tiles are building materials made from alkaline clay, purple sand, or other soft and hard raw materials, formed by extrusion or molding and then fired. They are brittle and have limited load-bearing capacity. When installing supports, specially designed primary support components are typically used to secure the supports to the underlying roof structure, providing support for the main beams and crossbeams. Support components, such as connecting plates, are often designed with multiple holes, as shown in the illustration, to allow flexible and effective adjustment of the support position. The modules are secured to the crossbeams using aluminum alloy clamps.
Color Steel Tile Roof Support
Color steel tiles are thin steel sheets formed by cold pressing or cold rolling. These sheets include organic-coated thin steel sheets (also known as color-coated sheets), galvanized thin steel sheets, corrosion-resistant thin steel sheets (containing asbestos-asphalt layers), or other types of thin steel sheets.
Profiled steel sheets offer advantages such as lightweight, high strength, excellent seismic performance, rapid construction, and aesthetic appeal. They are widely used as building materials and components, primarily for enclosures and floor slabs, as well as for other structures.
Concrete Roof Support
Concrete roof photovoltaic supports are typically installed at a fixed tilt angle, though flat installations are also possible. The primary fixing methods for this type of roof involve concrete foundations and standardized fixing connectors, which can be cast in place or pre-cast.
For concrete roofs, rectangular foundations are cast in place, making them suitable for regions or roofs with low load-bearing capacity and high wind loads.
